1. Scope
This policy explains how Archive.London uses cookies and similar technologies. Archive.London is operated by 825 Ventures Ltd.
A cookie is a small text file stored on a device. Similar technologies include local storage, pixels, tags and other methods that store or access information on a device.
2. Our approach
We keep tracking to a minimum. Strictly necessary technologies may operate without consent where they are essential to provide a service requested by the user, maintain security, balance traffic or remember a privacy choice.
Analytics, advertising, social-media, personalisation and other non-essential technologies must remain disabled until the user gives valid consent. Continuing to browse does not count as consent.
At the date of this policy, Archive.London is intended to operate without advertising cookies and without cross-site behavioural tracking.
3. Strictly necessary technologies
Strictly necessary storage may be used for:
- Security and abuse prevention.
- Load balancing and reliable page delivery.
- Remembering cookie choices.
- Maintaining a user-requested restricted research or download session.
- Preserving essential form state during an enquiry.
These technologies cannot be switched off through the preference centre where they are essential, although users may block them in their browser. Blocking them may prevent parts of the website from working.
The website application does not currently set cookies or use local or session storage. Cloudflare delivers and protects the website; its security services may apply additional checks.
4. Optional analytics
If privacy-respecting analytics are enabled, they are used to understand aggregate website use, such as page visits, navigation paths, approximate device categories and errors. Optional analytics must not load before consent where consent is legally required.
Analytics data must not be used for unrelated advertising, individual profiling or sale. The cookie settings panel must identify the provider, cookies, purposes, duration and international-transfer position before analytics are activated.
5. Embedded and third-party content
Archive.London should avoid unnecessary embeds. A third-party video, map, social post, payment tool or other embedded service may set its own cookies or receive technical data.
Where an embed is non-essential, it must remain blocked until the user consents. A privacy-friendly placeholder should explain which provider will load and why.
Following an ordinary link to another website is different from loading that provider inside Archive.London. The other website's own policies apply after the user follows the link.
6. Cookie choices
The current website does not enable optional analytics, advertising, social-media embeds or personalisation cookies. There are therefore no optional categories to accept or reject. You can revisit this information using the Cookie settings link in every footer.
If optional technologies are introduced, they will remain disabled until consent is given. Accept and reject choices will be equally easy, optional categories will be off by default, and you will be able to withdraw consent through Cookie settings.
7. Browser controls
Most browsers allow users to view, block and delete cookies. Browser settings differ, and blocking all storage may affect essential functions.
Users can obtain current instructions from their browser provider. Archive.London does not recommend installing unknown cookie-blocking software.
8. Consent duration and review
If optional technologies are introduced, their purposes and durations will be disclosed before consent is requested. Cookie information will be updated when the website changes.
9. Relationship with the Privacy Notice
Where cookie or device information is personal data, our Privacy Notice also applies. It explains lawful bases, recipients, transfers, retention and individual rights.
10. Contact
