Robert Harper’s understanding of fashion detail
For the photographer of high heels with straps and laces, London followed a Scottish childhood in Glasgow and Islay. Harper received a camera at seven and made his first sale at fourteen with a photograph of The Who in concert. Photography studies led to two years at Condé Nast, directly assisting David Bailey, Helmut Newton and Lester Bookbinder.
That apprenticeship sharpened his ability to make small details carry editorial meaning. Harper later established his own studio and built an approximately thirty five year career.
